Role of ncc in nation building

NCC cadets are trained physically and mentally in such a way that they get prepared to join armed forces. During this training they undergo various activities which improves their qualities like leadership, comradeship, decision making, etc.

Hence, they get well prepared to join any kind of defence forces which helps in our nation building. Apart from government jobs, wherever an NCC cadet choose to take up his/her career can grow in his field based on acquired training.

LT GEN TARUN KUMAR AICH, AVSM
DG NCC

Lt Gen Tarun Kumar Aich was commissioned into the 16th Battalion of the MADRAS Regiment in Jun 1986. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun he has attended all important mandatory courses of instructions, which are related to weaponry and tactics being an infantry officer.The notable amongst them being the Anti-tank Course, Combat Team Commander Course and the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington.

The ‘Aims’ of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit.

BASIC FACTS ABOUT ENROLMENT OF STUDENTS AS NCC CADETS (GENERALISED)

Eligibility Conditions

  1. Citizen of India or a subject of Nepal.
  2. Bearing good moral character.
  3. Enrolled in an educational institution.
  4. Meets the prescribed medical standards.
  5. Age
    • Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 12 years to 18½ years
    • Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – Upto 26 years
  6. Enrolment Period
    • Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 2 years
    • Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 3 years

BENEFITS TO NCC ‘C’ CERT HOLDERS HAVE TAKEN PART IN
RD PARADE AT NEW DELHI

    1. Ref IHQ (MOD) Rtg B (A) letter no 62529/Rtg B (A) dt 27 May 2013 .

 

  1. NCC Cadets holding ‘C’ cert and taken part in Republic Day Parade New Delhi will now be exempted from CEE for Rect into Sol Clk/Skt/Sol Tech and Sol NA and will be awarded 100% marks in lieu of CEE. Such candidates have to pass PFT, PMT and undergo med exam to get enrolled. Names of NCC cadets attending RD parade will be fwd to Rtg Dte by this HQ.
  2. This policy will be implemented wef 01 july 2013.

1. What is National Cadet Corps ?
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth development movement. It has enormous potential for nation building. The NCC provides opportunities to the youth of the country for their all-round development with a sense of Duty, Commitment, Dedication, Discipline and Moral Values so that they become able leaders and useful citizens. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities., with a distinct emphasis on Social Services, Discipline and Adventure Training. The NCC is open to all regular students of schools and colleges on a voluntary basis. The students have no liability for active military service.

When did National Cadet Corps Come into existence?
The National Cadets Corps came into existence under the National Cadet Corps Act XXXI of 1948 (passed in April, 1948; came into existence on 16th July, 1948).

 Is the NCC Programme part of the Educational activity or is it a part of military activity?
Educational Activity.

 What is a NCC Directorate?
The NCC at the state level is divided into 17 Directorates, in which each state or group of states forms a Directorate. The smaller states and union territories are attached with Directorates of the bigger states. Each Directorate is under the command of an Officer equivalent to the rank of a Brigadier (being upgraded to the rank of Major General) or its equivalent from the other two Services.
